OS X: How to Connect to a Shared Folder

In Finder click Go and click Connect To Server

If you are connecting to a Mac enter afp:// followed by the IP of the computer you are connecting to

ex: afp://192.168.0.143

If you are connecting to a PC enter smb:// followed by the IP of the computer you are connecting to

ex: smb://192.168.0.142

Note: If you need helping finding the IP of the remote computer follow these steps

Click Connect

Enter the User Name for the remote computer and enter the Password

Click Remember This Password In My Keychain to avoid entering these each time

Click Connect

Choose the Volume (folder) you want to mount

Click Ok

Your Volume should now appear on your Desktop

If you don't see it, in Finder click Finder then Preferences

Put a check next to Connected Servers

If you want the Volume to mount each time you turn on the computer follow these steps

Click the Apple in the top left corner and click System Preferences

Alternatively you can click the System Preferences icon in the Dock

Click Users & Groups

Make sure your account is highlighted on the left and click Login Items

Drag your Volume into the Login Items window
